Angry, as it should never have to be like this
I am a volunteer supporters group coordinator for a rescue organisation. Plenty of people have to surrender their animals because they can't get rentals. It's a part of the job which is hard to take in especially when the owner has had their pet for years and has an extreme strong bond with their pet.
When they hand their pet over, my colleagues and I have to fight back the tears and the anger and remain professional as it's hard enough for them as it is and for the pet who has no idea what is going on when they go into a pound. Angry as it should never have to be like this; their pets should be able to stay with them.
I personally think having a pet bond is the way to go in securing a rental agreement. Assessments of the animal and its behaviour could also work but how often and who would police it?
